Casey Anthony

I think every single person in America feels she knows that something horrible happened to her daughter AND that she knows who did what.

But she ain’t sayin’.

And THAT is bullshit.

But it doesn’t mean she’s guilty of 1st degree murder.

  1. I love how most everyone blames the jury even though the prosecution failed to make their case.

      Yup.

The prosecution had a massive mountain to climb. Having to prove 2st degree was virtually impossible. It’s too bad, really, because I think the woman did something horribly wrong; I just don’t think it was 2st degree.

I was astonished at how astonished the legal ‘experts’ on TV were about the verdict. I – and many of my non ‘expert’ friends, even those of us who paid minimum atttention – predicted an acquital on the 1st degree murder charge. And it WAS predictable: No direct evidence. No witnesses. No cause of death. They proved Anthony was a negligent mother. They fell way short of proving murder.

Meanwhile, my enlgthtened legislators here in FL are rushing to ‘fix’ the problem by making it a crime to report a missing child – one, I assume, that you’ve murdered. Stupid law, but also horse and barn. But these guys have ot find something to do I guess.

I saw that and felt the same way. I just shook my head.

They don’t need another law, they need to enforce and prosecute the ones they have on the books already.

      • Maybe I misred the proposed Caylee’s Law? I thought it was to require a parent to report their child missing within 24-48hrs of them gone or face felony charges? Had Casey Anthony followed this proposed law, there could have been a much more extensive search early on, and wouldn’t this also do more to preserve any forensic evidence? I thought part of the problem with determining cause of death was the amount of time that had gone by for decomposition.

Also, it would mean that she faces at least SOME felony charges and time for her lies, and it could also implicate the grandparents as well. They could charge based upon that and prevent having to go with murder right off the bat creating a “double jeopardy” situation.

On the contrary, I believe we need a law here that helps to protect any forensic evidence and one affecting the timeline of reporting a child missing would be helpful.

I think you have it right; it seems Moe mistyped. It’s a crime to NOT report the child missing.

I think she is probably guilty enough of several other crimes that they could have charged her with.

Lawmakers do that all the time – pass some silly new law cuz it’s cheaper and easier than enforcing what’s already there. Legislators should be required to ‘clean house’ every few years of all this nonsense laws.

Vern – [Had Casey Anthony followed this proposed law,] . . . I think it’s highly unlikely that Casy A would have followed such a law. She wanted to hide the fact that her child was missing.

Of course I mistyped – ‘a crime NOT to report a missing child”
