Joe Pa

I don’t know the man.  I’ve never studied the man.  But it is my opinion that there are a few, a handful of people in college sports, who’s reputation is rock solid.

Joe Paterno, in my mind, is one of those people.

I think he was wronged today.

    But I may be wrong.

  2. Tough call. I think the seriousness of the allegation and the fact he didn’t follow through probably means he should be let go. The idea is that of leadership responsibility and symbolism. He did tell his superior and did what was legally required. Yet we don’t know what truly went down, and there was no action taken. The appearance of possible impropriety with results like these requires those in positions of authority who knew but did not assure follow through to leave. That said, my own respect for Paterno’s career is undiminished. This does not define who he was, and absent any proof that he didn’t simply assume the higher ups were taking care of it I’m not going to assume bad behavior on his part.

I get the feeling that they are throwing an 84 year old man on the pyre.

On the other hand, if I caught, or heard, what may be my MAIN coach/friend/staff engaged in this behavior, I’d like to think I would have fired him.

I think it’s early to pass judgment . All of the facts are not out and Coach Paterno has not given his version of events .
